Many helmet companies mislead customers with glorified descriptions of plastic.  They give the impression that their products are made with a composite fiber shell, when in reality they are plastic.  Composite Fiber offers increased protection as described below. 

So, when you are comparing products, be sure to ask the manufacturer if the shell is composite fiber or plastic.
